Raccoon removal in Chicago isn’t as simple as it sounds. In the old days, a bullet or a foot hold trap was used to solve most any raccoon troubles. Then its fur was made into articals of clothing, and the “coon” became dinner. In todays world, we want the raccoon humanely removed from our homes. And it turns out, that it realy is the best option in most cases. I work the Chicago area myself, and many times, find baby raccoons in attics. Most times the raccoons are in such a tight spot, that I have a hard time reaching them. I’ve used many different tricks to get raccoons out of attics, and this is one of my favorites.

Removal of raccoons from attic: If I determine that the raccoon in your home has babys, I will get her to move them by using an eviction process. She will pick up the scent of the male raccoon and move her babies to another den she has selected. A male plays no part in raising the young.His job is to breed as many females as he can.He will actually kill the young, and the mother raccoon knows that. As soon as she smells the scent, she waits for the sun to go down and one by one, she moves the babies to a new location in Chicago.

If the baby raccoons in your walls or attic in Chicago are old enough to walk, I use a one way door system to get them all out the next time they go out for food or water. I use colored metal to match the homes exterior in areas of the home succeptable to raccoon re-entry, and long screws to hold it down. Raccoons in Chicago are strong animals, and I don’t want them getting back in 2-3 weeks later.

If the raccoons are under your house, these tricks will work, but sometimes we do need to trap raccoons. I use humane cage type traps, and all the raccoons I trap in Chicago feel is embarassment when they find themselves on my pick up list in the morning. I relocate raccoons in Chicago to a wooded area away from homes when ever possible. Now the raccoon will have to find its own territory and hunt for food instead of eating dog food or cat food left out for pets.
