This K9 is one of the smartest on Gods Green Earth and has the nose to prove it. It has stealthy moves and keen eye sight. As you may know the life of a coyote can be short lived and is not one of mans best friend nor farmers. This K9 hunts anything and everything it will kill live stock from sheep to calf’s even chickens if got the chance. Farmers hate them for that reason they like to roam the country side even though they are territorial and they love open areas to where they can see any predators trying to hunt them. Man is one of the major predators they have as an adult; due to humans like to hunt them and I am their predator.

Hunting

How I hunt the coyote is either by predator calling or baiting. Baiting is a good way to get the k9 to come in to range to get a shot on them with out learning how to use a call or buying one.
I like to find where there crossing from wood lot to wood lot or when there running edges of fields as I said they like the open Area to feel safe.

My set up is in corners of fields or in an opening in the woods like a ridge line. They will come around dusk to dark a full moon is very helpful when out hunting the wise K9.
Just get some Road kill as in deer and place it in the key spots and just like Deer hunting set and wait.

Calling

Like most everything there is good and bad in callers. They have come a long ways from old school calling with Rabbit squalors & squeakers today’s calling is slick just push a button and chose what you want to use from wounded rabbit to mouse squeaks and they have mechanical devises that move while it calls .
I guess I would have to say you can spend as much on this sport as you like.

Guns

The choice of gun I like to use is a 243 Winchester with a grain of about 55 to 85. Why you ask well the 243 is flat shooting and is very reasonable to shoot or reload. That’s my choice but her are some other.
22-250
17cal
22mag
22long Rifle
243 win

Equipment

1. If you like to move I would recommend a pop up style dome tent but a deer blind is as great.
2. A good small caliber rifle
3. Electronic caller or blow style rabbit squealer tube type
4. property with open fields or wood line with ridges
5. ATV , Tractor , Truck to haul your Game

Safety
As in any hunting be sure of your shot and back ground and always wear Hunter orange.
Set gun on other side of a cross over if you don’t have a partner to help you in this task.
Hunt safe Hunt wisely and enjoy the great out doors.

Fur

Best to put your fur up ASAP after the hunt if it is warm out you need to keep in a cool dry place of fur will start to slip and the pelt will not be worth a Dime. Most K9, s as in Fox or coyotes don’t have great value but could bring up to 20 to 25.00 if pelt has been taken care of. Some local fur shops will buy in the round which means you just have the fun hunting these k9.

Tips

For the most part be sure your Gun is spot on Bait as much as you can at a time and don’t call all the time. Be sure to use the wind as in Deer hunting. Best of luck
  to you!
